Eggman, but Metal Sonic completely ignored Shadow's request and kicked him into the water before flying off to look for the Zone's version of Eggman. Shadow tried to convince Metal Sonic to no longer obey Dr. Metal Sonic and Shadow then ended up in the Sol Zone, floating above an ocean. Eggman to attack everyone, but was once again transported to a different reality by Shadow. Arriving in an alternate universe, Metal Sonic was employed by that reality's version of Dr. It was later transported to another location along with Shadow when he tried to override Metal's teleporter engine with Chaos Control. Metal Sonic was temporarily defeated by Super Scourge along with the others and then tried to attack Sonic again when he deduced that defeating Scourge was no longer an option. Metal Sonic v3.3, from Sonic the Hedgehog #196. This allowed Scourge to transform into a stronger form Super Scourge. Scourge then turned the tables on everyone by revealing that he had placed Anarchy Beryl in his throne. Scourge didn't give up, however, and rushed to the throne room, followed by Sonic and Shadow. Sonic later made an offer for Metal Sonic to help him take out Scourge first, instead of attacking everyone else, and the robot nonchalantly agreed. Metal Sonic then left for Moebius against his creator's will to find and attack Sonic and the others in Castle Acorn.

Shortly after the destruction of both Metal Sonic and Metal Scourge by the Suppression Squad, Eggman created a new Metal Sonic model, this time using the newer SXSU-401 engine instead of the typical STH-25, allowing the robot to transport to any other dimension to pursue Sonic. On a map with twelve players, this just becomes absolute carnage.Captain Metal originally started off as the fourth incarnation of Metal Sonic v3.0. These maps can unleash lava rocks at you which can damage your crew if hit. Looks wise however, they are very distinct from one another. At launch, there are twelve maps to choose from, all varied just enough with different platforms to make a difference. Some modifiers can also have the maps themselves attack you. It would have been more fun to find the true captain and have the opposing team keep an eye on the real one when surrounded by imposters. But this is then ruined by the captain victory condition – where you kill the captain X number of times – being disabled. One in particular gives every crewmate a sword and captain hat resulting in some imposters amongst the ranks. There are some quite fun modifiers there though. In the character select screen you will see the options button, but it is only when a captain has been chosen that this menu will open up. However, confusingly, you can only toggle these on and off when you have selected a captain. Plunder Panic does go some way to elongate your fun out of it by adding a few different game modes and modifiers – known in pirate talk as modify-arrs – which can be found in the Handbook. I think the £14.99 price tag for a game that gets boring very quickly may have something to do with that. Multiple times I have tried matchmaking, and it has always ended up with me and eleven bots for company. Not that this really matters, as the online portion is dead. However, at the time of writing, only casual multiplayer is available. In online matches, you can create private rooms to stipulate your own rules or brave the seas out in online matchmaking. Locally, you can choose the number of opponents and AI teammates you wish to include. You can play against AI in local and online matches. The bad thing about Plunder Panic is that the AI is pretty good if you don’t have real-life opponents to face off against.

The good thing about Plunder Panic is that the AI is pretty good if you don’t have a full team.

It is nigh impossible to keep an eye on all forms of victory at once your best bet is to focus on one and hope your team is competent enough to deliver on the rest. Plunder Panic is chaotic to say the least. Plunder Panic shows you all the action on screen at once so you can see what is happening all around you. In a full 6v6 match, all these things and more will be happening on the map at the same time.
